On this page is where you will see some of my team experience from game jams as Game Design and 3D Artist to create a game. From these game jams help me gain experience in the gaming industry.
SORT IT OUT
Sort it out is a 3D first person sorting game where the player will sort various items into garbage, plastic, recycling, glass, metal waste bins. Depending on the player's choices, it'll affect the final score for that level. I created this game with team during a game jam as a Game Designer and 3D Environment Artist. This was my very first game jam ever and I really enjoyed it. It gave me the experience of what's its like to work with a team of other talent to create a game from the ground up. As a Game Designer for this game, me and other game designers and level designers collaborated on coming up with a game that was related to the game jam theme, wholesome physics. So we came up with a cleaning game where you have to clean up an environment. There will be different types of trash on the ground that the player must sort out and place the trash (plastic, glass, metal, cardboard) in the correct bin. The environment is a warehouse. This is wholesome physics because we want out game to create an impact to people to understand how important it is for them to clean up our environment and know how to recycle. After that, it created a Figma mock up for the level of the game, created a Trello for team tasks, a GitHub for programmers, and game design document for our game. We used Unity to created our game. For the 3D Artists, we created environment models and trash models for our game. We all used Blender to create the models. Our art style for the game is low-poly. Overall, this game jam gave me the chance to use my skills and learn from others as Game Designer. This game jam help to get comfortable with working with a team so I can see myself joining more game jams down the road.
Now that the game jam is over (On March 4th), me and my team won the community choice ward for our game Sort It Out. We won because we had the best representation of a bigger concept that greatly impact society. Were also going to continue building on this game as we see this game have so much potential. Our Team was awarded for Best Trailer and Biggest impact. Check out our award down below!
